             6      This act modifies provisions related to State Officers and Employees for military activation
             7      during the war on terrorism or a declared war. This act requires the state to continue
             8      insurance coverage for state employees involved in the military activation. This act has an
             9      immediate effective date.
             10      This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
             11      ENACTS:
             12          67-19-42, Utah Code Annotated 1953
             13      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             14          Section 1. Section 67-19-42 is enacted to read:
             15          67-19-42. State benefits for employees activated to military service due to the war on
             16      terrorism or a declared war.
             17          (1) Beginning September 11, 2001, all agencies shall continue to pay, for employees
             18      activated to military service due to the war on terrorism or a nationally declared war, their portion
             19      of:
             20          (a) the premium for health and dental insurance; and
             21          (b) the premium for the basic life insurance provided by the state.
             22          (2) Beginning September 11, 2001, all agencies shall also grant the 15-day military leave
             23      for employees activated to military service due to the war on terrorism or a declared war.
             24          Section 2. Effective date.
             25          If approved by two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, this act takes effect
             26      upon approval by the governor, or the day following the constitutional time limit of Utah
             27      Constitution Article VII, Section 8, without the governor's signature, or in the case of a veto, the


             28      date of veto override.
