Vice-Chair Lockhart called the meeting to order at 8:05 a.m.
MOTION: Representative Mascaro moved to approve the minutes of the February 4, 2002 committee meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
S.B. 76 Domestic Violence in Presence of Child Amendments (D. Steele)
Senator Steele explained the bill to the committee.
Kris Knowlton, Attorney General's Office, spoke in support of the bill.
MOTION: Representative Saunders moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Representative Ray and Representative Way absent for the vote.
S.B. 135 Tobacco Settlement Restricted Account (D. Steele)
Senator Steele explained the bill to the committee.
MOTION: Representative Litvack moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Representative Jones, Representative Ray, and Representative Way absent for the vote.
H.B. 287 Constitutional Rights of State Employees (M. Thompson)
Representative Thompson presented the bill to the committee with proposed amendments.
MOTION: Representative Thompson moved to amend the bill as follows:
1. Page 1, Line 8: Delete " given" and insert " guaranteed"
2. Page 3, Line 89: Delete "given" and insert "guaranteed"
3. Page 4, Line 97: Delete "given" and insert "guaranteed"
The motion passed unanimously with Representative Way absent for the vote..
Representative Thompson explained the bill to the committee with the assistance of Mr. Richard J. Anderson, Director - Division of Child and Family Services, Department of Human Services.
Mr. Frederick Van Der Veur, Executive Director - Utah Public Employees Association, spoke in support of the bill.
MOTION: Representative Ray moved to pass the bill out favorably as amended. The motion passed unanimously.
MOTION: Representative Saunders moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
