Chair Murray called the meeting to order at 8:03 a.m.
MOTION: Representative Siddoway moved to approve the minutes of the February 7, 2002 committee meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Representative Dillree and Representative Young absent for the vote.
H.B. 171 Low-speed Electric Vehicles on Certain Highways (D. Bush)
Representative Bush explained the bill to the committee with the assistance of Scott Sherwood, Director - Transportation Services, Brigham Young University, and both distributed handouts.
Beverly Miller, Salt Lake Clean Cities Coalition, spoke in support of the bill.
MOTION: Representative Siddoway moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Representative Morgan and Representative Holdaway absent for the vote.
H.B. 303 Expungement of Driving Under the Influence Convictions (A. L. Tyler)
Representative Tyler explained the bill to the committee.
MOTION: Representative Bush moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Representative Young and Representative Holdaway absent for the vote.
H.B. 326 Special License Plate (D. Bowman)
Representative Bowman explained the bill to the committee.
Rodney G. Marrelli, Executive Director - Utah State Tax Commission, answered questions of committee members.
No committee action was taken regarding the bill.
H.B. 337 Veterans Service Organizations Special License Plates (S. Mascaro)
Representative Mascaro explained the bill to the committee with the assistance of Thad Jensen, American Legion.
Terry Schow, Director - Division of Veterans' Affairs, spoke in support of the bill.
Rodney G. Marrelli, Executive director - Utah State Tax Commission, answered questions of committee members regarding the bill.
MOTION: Representative Bush moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Representative Dillree and Representative Young absent for the vote.
H.B. 312 Highway and Freeway Underpasses for Wildlife (M. Styler)
Representative Styler explained the bill to the committee.
MOTION: Representative Siddoway moved that the Department of Transportation and the Division of Wildlife Resources make a report to the Transportation Interim Committee on or before their October 2002 meeting on a memorandum of understanding to address wildlife migration paths across state highways. The motion passed unanimously with Representative Dillree and Representative Young absent for the vote.
MOTION: Representative Morgan moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Representative Dillree and Representative Young absent for the vote.
