Meeting was called to order by Chair Spencer at 4:25 p.m.
1. H. B. 208 Federal Government Acquisition of Real Property in the State (B. Johnson)
Rep. Bradley T. Johnson proposed a substitute bill and explained the bill. Chris Tyler, Utah Association of Realtors, spoke in support. Kathy VanDame voiced concerns regarding constitutional requirements and spoke against the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Blackham moved to adopt 1st Substitute H. B. 208, Federal Government Acquisition of Real Property in the State. The motion passed unanimously.
MOTION: Sen. Blackham moved to pass 1st Substitute H. B. 208, Federal Government
Acquisition of Real Property in the State, out with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed with Sen. Spencer and Sen. Blackham voting in favor and Sen. Evans voting in opposition.
2. H. B. 113 Insect Control on Federal Lands (S. Urquhard)
Rep. Stephen H. Urquhart presented the bill. Wes Quinton, Utah Farm Bureau, spoke in support.
MOTION: Sen. Blackham moved to pass H. B. 113, Insect Control on Federal Lands, out with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously.
3. S.R.C. 2 Resolution Urging Vegetation Management Practices on BLM Ground
(L. Blackham)
Sen. Blackham presented the resolution. Debbie Goodman, Audubon Council, and Wes Quinton, Utah Farm Bureau, spoke in support.
MOTION: Sen. Blackham moved to pass S.R.C. 2, Resolution Urging Vegetation Management Practices on BLM Ground, out with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously.
4. H. B. 83 Impounded Livestock - Sale by County (T. Hatch)
Sen. Blackham presented the bill for the sponsor.
MOTION: Sen. Blackham moved to pass H. B. 83, Impounded Livestock - Sale by County, out with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously.
5. H. B. 269 Water Commissioner Assessment Amendments (D. Ure)
Bob Morgan, Executive Director, Department of Natural Resources, explained the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Evans moved to pass H. B. 269, Water Commissioner Assessment Amendments, out with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously.
MOTION: Sen. Evans moved to approve the minutes of 2-06-02. The motion passed unanimously.
MOTION: Sen. Blackham moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.
