Sen. Wright chaired the meeting, which was called to order at 8:10 a.m.

1.     S.B. 161 LIMITATION ON ALIMONY (Sen. T. Spencer)

    
Sen. Spencer presented the bill to the committee.

     MOTION: Sen. Spencer moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.    Page 4, Lines 99-100:    Delete the brackets and reinstate the deleted language.

2.    Page 4, Line 102:    After "order" insert ", unless the court orders otherwise at a hearing held after January 1, 2002, upon the showing of extenuating circumstances. Either party may request a hearing prior to termination"

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hickman absent for the vote.

Lori Nelsen, Attorney and Stewart Ralphs, Legal Aid Society, spoke in opposition to the bill.     
    MOTION:
Sen. Spencer moved to pass S. B. 161, as amended, out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.


2.     H.B. 243 CHILD IMMUNIZATION AMENDMENTS (Rep. R. Lockhart)

    The bill was introduced by Rep. Lockhart.

     MOTION: Sen. Spencer moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.    Page 1, Line 26:    Before "a" insert "as a test case in Utah County only,"

    The motion passed with Sen. Hickman and Sen. Davis voting against.

    Lewis Garrett, Local Health Officer Association and Dr. Joseph Miner, Utah County Public Health Dept, spoke in opposition of the bill..

     MOTION: Sen. Allen moved to pass H.B. 243, as amended, out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed with Sen. Allen and Sen. Davis voting against.     
3.     S.B. 162 DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT - REPORT OF FUNDED VACANT POSITIONS , (Sen. L. Blackham)
    
    
    MOTION: Sen. Allen moved to pass S.B. 162 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.
    
    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hickman absent for the vote.

4.     H.B. 37` PARENT-TIME AMENDMENTS      (Rep. J. Ferrin)

    Rep. Ferrin presented the bill to the committee.

    MOTION: Sen. Allen moved to pass H.B. 37 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis absent for the vote.

5.     H.B.245 AMENDMENTS TO SEX OFFENDER REGISTRY (Rep. A. Bradshaw)

    
Rep. Bradshaw presented the bill to the committee.

     MOTION: Sen. Spencer moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.    Page 1, Line 5-6:    Delete " to require registration for two additional sexual offenses and"



2.    Page 1, Line 7:    Delete " This act provides a coordination clause."

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. Spencer moved to pass H.B. 37, as amended, out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis absent for the vote.

6.      HJR 5 RESOLUTION CALLING FOR SUPPORT OF THE PRINCIPLES OF THE ALLIANCE FOR UNITY (Rep. R. Bigelow)

    
Sen. Hickman presented the resolution to the committee.

    MOTION: Sen. Allen moved to pass HJR 5 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis absent for the vote.
         
     MOTION: Senator Spencer moved to adjourn.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis absent for the vote.

    The meeting adjourned at 9:03 a.m.
