Chair Bramble called the meeting to order at 3:55 p.m.
    
1.     S.B. 57 Corporate Franchise and Income Taxes - Treatment of Certain Cooperatives (J. Valentine)
    
    
Sen. Valentine explained the bill.

    
MOTION: Sen. Valentine moved to adopt the following amendments:

     1. Page 5, Line 143:    After "(ii)" insert "by a preponderance of the evidence as determined by a court of competent jurisdiction or the commission,"

    2. Page 5, Line 146:    Delete "or"
    
    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Allen absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. Dmitrich moved to pass the bill out favorably.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Allen absent for the vote.

2.     S.J.R. 6 Joint Resolution Amending Revenue and Taxation Article - Exemptions
     (M. Waddoups)



    
Sen. Waddoups explained the resolution.

    Reed Searle, Intermountain Power Agency; Fred Finlinson, representing water districts; Leon Paxton, Utah Municipal Power Agency; Michael Mazuran, Government Entities;
    David Spatafore, Utah League of Cities and Towns, spoke in opposition to the resolution.

    Mike German, Vice President, Utah Taxpayers Association and James Olsen, Utah Retail Merchants Association, spoke in support of the resolution.

     MOTION: Sen. Stephenson moved to pass the resolution out favorably.

    The motion passed with Sen. Bramble, Sen. Hillyard, Sen. Stephenson and Sen. Valentine voting in favor, and Sen. Allen and Sen. Dmitrich voting in opposition to the resolution.

     MOTION: Sen. Hillyard moved to adjourn.

    The motion passed unanimously at 4:58 p.m.
