RESOLUTION CLOSING DISTRICT COURT

             6      A joint resolution of the Legislature approving the closure of the District Court within the
             7      municipal boundaries of Roy City, Utah, and providing an effective date.
             8      Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             9          WHEREAS, a circuit court was located within the municipal boundaries of Roy City, Utah
             10      on and before January 1, 1994;
             11          WHEREAS, Section 78-3-13.4 requires the Legislature to approve by joint resolution
             12      removal of a district court from a municipality in which the district court or the circuit court
             13      existed on January 1, 1994;
             14          WHEREAS, the Utah Judicial Council and Roy City propose to close the Roy City location
             15      of the district court; and
             16          WHEREAS, this action is required to meet the proposal by the Office of the Legislative
             17      Fiscal Analyst in order to balance the Utah state budget for the 2003 fiscal year:
             18          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah
             19      approves the closure of the district court within the municipal boundaries of Roy City, Utah.
             20          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Utah Judicial
             21      Council and Roy City.
             22          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution takes effect upon approval by a
             23      constitutional majority vote of all members of the Senate and House of Representatives.
