Rep. Ferrin called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.
MOTION: Rep. Bush moved to approve the minutes of the January 23, 2003 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Bigelow, Rep. Hansen, Rep. Hendrickson, and Rep. Newbold absent for the vote.
H.J.R. 2 Resolution Requesting State Agencies to Keep Legislators Informed (D. Hogue)
Rep. Hogue introduced H.J.R. 2 and explained it to the committee.
MOTION: Rep. Bowman moved to pass the resolution out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Bigelow, Rep. Hansen, Rep. Hendrickson, and Rep. Newbold absent for the vote.
H.B. 71 State Spending Limitation Amendments (G. Hughes)
Rep. Hughes introduced H.B. 71 and explained it to the committee.
Spoke in opposition to the bill: Steven Peterson, Utah School Boards Association and Utah School Superintendents Association
Spoke in favor of the bill: Mike Jerman, Utah Taxpayers Association
MOTION: Rep. Bush moved to refer the bill for interim study.
SUBSTITUTE
MOTION: Rep. Hutchings moved to pass the bill out favorably.
MOTION: Rep. Bigelow moved to adjourn. The motion passed with Rep. Hutchings voting in opposition to the motion.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:56 a.m.
