Chair Cox called the meeting to order at 2:05 p.m.
MOTION: Rep. Shurtliff moved to approve the minutes of the February 13, 2003 meeting. The motion passed unanimously, with Rep. Wallace absent for the vote.
H.B. 19 Employment Security Act Modifications (M. Newbold)
Rep. Newbold explained the bill with the assistance of Christopher Love, Director of Unemployment Insurance Division, Department of Workforce Services.
MOTION: Rep. Love moved to amend the bill as follows:
1. Page 1, Line 7: After " unemployment" insert " compensation"
2. Page 1, Line 20: After "additional" insert "unemployment compensation"
3. Page 1, Line 21: After "benefits," insert "hereafter referred to in this section as "additional benefits,""
4. Page 3, Line 63: After "(c)" delete "additional" and insert "extended"
5. Page 3, Line 64: After "(d)" delete "extended" and insert "additional"
6. Page 3, Lines 67-68: After "(8)(a) delete the rest of lines 67-68 and insert
"The division may not charge a contributing base employer's account with any portion of additional benefits paid to an individual under this section."
7. Page 3, Line 77: After "additional" insert "unemployment compensation"
