Committee Chair Hellewell called the meeting to order at 8:15 a.m.
MOTION: Sen. Mayne moved to approve the minutes of January 21, 2003.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Bramble, Sen. Hatch and Sen.
Waddoups absent for the vote.
1. S.B. 6 Retailer Requirements in Printing Financial Transaction Card Receipt
(C. Walker)
MOTION: Sen. Walker moved to adopt 1st Sub. S.B. 6.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Bramble, Sen. Hatch and Sen. Waddoups absent for the vote.
Sen. Walker explained the bill.
Jim Olsen, Executive Vice President for Utah Retail Merchants Association, spoke to the bill.
Francine Giani, Division of Consumer Protection, spoke in support of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Mayne moved to pass 1st Sub. S.B. 6 out favorably.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hatch and Sen. Waddoups absent for the vote.
2. S.B. 42 Fraudulent Use of Credit Card Number (C. Walker)
Sen. Walker explained the bill.
Jim Olsen, Utah Retail Merchants Association, spoke to the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Mayne moved to pass the bill out favorably.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hatch absent for the vote.
3. S.B. 96 Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing Act Amendments
(P. Julander)
Sen. Julander explained the bill.
Laura Poe, Assistant Director, Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing, declared a conflict of interest, answered questions and spoke in support of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Davis moved to pass the bill out favorably.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Waddoups absent for the vote.
MOTION: Sen. Walker moved to adjourn.
