Chair Walker called the meeting to order at 8:20 a.m.
MOTION: Sen. Arent moved to approve the minutes of February 21, 2003.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Eastman absent for the vote.
1. 1st Sub. S. B. 56 Local Government Boards of Examiners (J. Evans)
Rep. Harper explained the bill.
Lt. Governor Olene Walker spoke to the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Eastman moved to go to the next item on the agenda.
The motion passed unanimously.
2. 1st Sub. S. B. 56 Local Government Boards of Examiners (J. Evans)
Sen. Evans distributed 2nd Sub. S. B. 56 and explained the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Hale moved to adopt 2nd Sub. S. B. 56.
The motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Dan McConkie, Davis County, spoke to the bill.
Brent Gardner, Utah Association of Counties, spoke against the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Evans moved to return 2nd Sub. S. B. 56 to the Rules Committee and recommends it be sent to Interim Study.
The motion passed with Sen. Hale voting in opposition.
MOTION: Sen. Eastman moved to adjourn.
The motion passed unanimously.
