Sen. J. Evans called the meeting to order at 4:23 p. m.

MINUTE APPROVAL:

MOTION: Sen. Julander moved to approve the minutes of February 24th, 2003.

The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Knudson and Sen.Thomas absent at the time of the vote.

    Sen. Jenkins assumed the chair.

1.    S.B. 241 REVIEW OF PARENT TIME, CUSTODY, AND CHILD SUPPORT LAWS (Sen. J. Evans)

    
Sen. Evans presented the bill to the committee.


    Robin Arnold-Williams, Department of Human Services spoke to the bill. Gary Holt, Global Parenting Alliance; and Conrad Lloyd, citizen spoke in favor of the bill.

    MOTION: Sen. Knudson moved to pass S. B. 241 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Thomas absent at the time of the vote.


2. S. B. 252 NURSE PRACTICE ACT EXEMPTION AMENDMENT (Sen. P.
    Julander)

     MOTION: Sen. Julander moved to adopt 1st Sub S.B. 252.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Thomas absent at the time of the vote.
    
    Sen. Julander presented the bill to the committee.

    Laura Poe, Assistant Director, DOPL and Corey Rowley, Legislative Coalition, spoke to the bill.

    MOTION: Sen. Jenkins, moved to pass 1st Sub. S. B. 252 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Thomas absent at the time of the vote.

3.     H. B. 212 PRIMARY CARE NETWORK AMENDMENTS FOR GENERAL ASSISTANCE RECIPIENTS     (Rep. K. Holdaway)

    
Rep. Holdaway presented the bill to the committee.

     MOTION: Sen. B. Evans moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.    Page 1, Line 10:    After "2003." insert "The enrollment fee cap sunsets on July 1, 2004."

2.     Page 1, Line 25:    After line 25 insert "©) The enrollment fee cap under Subsection (2)(b) sunsets on July 1, 2004."


    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Thomas absent at the time of the vote.

    Sheila Walsh-McDonald, Salt Lake Community Action, and Tina Johnson, Legislative Coalition for People with Disabilities, spoke in favor of the bill.



    MOTION: Sen. Jenkins moved to pass H. B. 212, as amended, out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.

4.     S. B. 212 MINERS HEALTH AND SAFETY (Sen. E. Mayne)

    
S.B. 212 was not discussed.

5.     H.B. 222 CHILD WELFARE PROCEEDINSG AMENDMENTS (Rep. G. Curtis)

    The motion passed unanimously.
