LIFE INSURANCE LAW AMENDMENTS

7 General Description:
8 This bill modifies the Insurance Code to address life insurance provisions.
9 Highlighted Provisions:
10 This bill:
11 . grants rulemaking authority;
12 . addresses eligible insured groups for group or blanket life insurance policies; and
13 . makes technical changes.

24 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
25 Section 1. Section 31A-22-425 is enacted to read:
26 31A-22-425. Rulemaking authority.
27 In accordance with Title 63, Chapter 46a, Utah Administrative Rulemaking Act, the

28 commissioner shall make rules to establish standards for any of the following used in
29 connection with the sale of life insurance policies and contracts:
30 (1) a buyer's guide;
31 (2) a disclosure;
32 (3) an illustration;
33 (4) a policy summary; or
34 (5) a recommendation.
35 Section 2. Section 31A-22-501 is amended to read:
36 31A-22-501. Eligible groups.
37 [No] A group or blanket policy of life insurance may not be delivered in Utah unless the
38 insured group:
39 (1) falls within at least one of the classifications under Sections 31A-22-502 through
40 31A-22-509 [.]; and
41 (2) is formed for a reason other than the purchase of insurance.
