7 General Description:
8 This bill creates the Law Enforcement Overtime Fund.
9 Highlighted Provisions:
10 This bill:
11 . creates the Law Enforcement Overtime Fund;
12 . authorizes the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice to administer the fund;
13 and
14 . provides rulemaking authority to administer the Law Enforcement Overtime Fund.

23 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
24 Section 1. Section 63-25a-107 is enacted to read:
25 63-25a-107. Law Enforcement Overtime Fund.
26 (1) There is created a restricted special revenue fund known as the Law Enforcement
27 Overtime Fund.

28 (2) The Law Enforcement Overtime Fund shall consist of:
29 (a) private contributions;
30 (b) donations or grants from public or private entities;
31 (c) any monies appropriated by the Legislature; and
32 (d) interest and earnings on fund monies.
33 (3) The commission shall authorize the expenditure of fund monies to qualifying law
34 enforcement agencies to cover overtime costs, subject to:
35 (a) monies available in the fund; and
36 (b) rules established under Subsection (6).
37 (4) Administrative costs of the Law Enforcement Overtime Fund shall be paid from the
38 fund.
39 (5) Any law enforcement agency within the state may apply to the commission under
40 this section for monies from the Law Enforcement Overtime Fund for a specified law
41 enforcement project.
42 (6) The commission shall:
43 (a) administer the funds deposited in the Law Enforcement Overtime Fund;
44 (b) select qualified law enforcement agencies and distribute the funds in the Law
45 Enforcement Overtime Fund in accordance with Subsection (6)(c); and
46 (c) make rules in accordance with Title 63, Chapter 46a, Utah Administrative
47 Rulemaking Act, establishing:
48 (i) the procedures for the awarding of fund monies; and
49 (ii) the procedures for the law enforcement agencies to apply for Law Enforcement
50 Overtime Fund monies.
