Vice-chair Donnelson called the meeting to order at 8:10 a.m.

S.B. 92    Repeal of Unsolicited Commercial and Sexually Explicit Email Act (Sen. P. Arent)

The sponsor introduced the bill and explained its intent.

MOTION:    Representative Becker moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Representatives Bennion, Curtis, McCartney, Styler and Ure absent for the vote.

MOTION:    Representative Becker moved to place the bill on the consent calendar. The motion passed unanimously with Representatives Bennion, Curtis, McCartney, Styler and Ure absent for the vote.

S.B. 16    Identity Theft Amendments (Sen. C. Walker)

The sponsor introduced the bill with the assistance of Richard Hamp, Utah Attorney General's Office.

Speaking in favor of the bill was Jim Olsen, Utah Retail Merchants Association

MOTION:    Representative Goodfellow moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion

passed unanimously with Representatives Bennion, Curtis, McCartney, Noel, and Styler absent for the vote.

S.B. 93    Telecommunications Annual Report Amendments (Sen. B. Evans)

The sponsor introduced the bill and was assisted in the presentation by Roger Ball, Utah Committee of Consumer Services.

Eric Isom, Qwest, clarified information and spoke to the bill.


MOTION:    Representative Snow moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed 6- 1-5 with Representative Becker voting against the motion and Representatives Allen, Curtis, Goodfellow, McCartney, and Styler absent for the vote.

MOTION:    Representative Ure moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously with Representatives Allen, Curtis, Goodfellow, McCartney, and Styler absent for the vote. The meeting adjourned at 9:15 a.m.
