    Chair Cox called the meeting to order at 5:06 p.m. He announced that the House Workforce Services and Community & Economic Development will meet for the last time
on Wednesday, February 25, 2004. He requested that the committee members be present at
8:00 a.m. in order to hear one bill which will require some attention.

MOTION:    Rep. Shurtliff moved to approve the minutes of February 16, 2004. The motion         passed unanimously with Rep. Hughes and Rep. Morgan absent for the vote.

H.B. 302    Voluntary Contribution Act Amendments (Rep. M. Styler)

Rep. Styler introduced the bill.

Susan Kuziak, Executive Director, Utah Education Association, asked for a language clarification on the bill. John Fellows, Legal Research & General Counsel, responded.

MOTION:    Rep. Love moved to pass the bill out favorably.

SUBSTITUTE
MOTION:    Rep. Goodfellow moved to adopt the following amendments:

    Page 6, line 152:        After "(2)" delete "A" and insert "Unless the employee                     agrees to pay the actual cost, a"



        The motion passed with Rep. Love and Rep. Shurtliff voting in opposition.
        Rep. Hughes was absent for the vote.

MOTION:    Rep. Goodfellow moved to pass the bill out favorably as amended. The motion         passed unanimously with Rep. Hughes absent for the vote.


H.B. 370    Tourism Tax Advisory Board (Rep. T. Kiser)

Rep. Kiser introduced the bill. He was assisted by Deputy Mayor Alan Dayton, Salt Lake County.

MOTION:    Rep. Goodfellow moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed         unanimously.

MOTION:    Rep. Morgan moved to place the bill on the Consent Calendar. The motion         passed unanimously.

MOTION:    Rep. Hughes moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.

Chair Cox adjourned the meeting at 5:28 p.m.
