MINUTES OF THE SENATE BUSINESS & LABOR
STANDING COMMITTEE
TUESDAY, JANUARY 20, 2004, 3:30 P.M.

A list of visitors and a copy of handouts are filed with the committee minutes.

Committee Chair Hellewell called the meeting to order at 3:40 p.m. and announced that S.B. 28 Home Inspection - Action Against Inspector (P. Julander) and S.B. 75 Consumer Credit Contracts (G. Bell) would not be heard, but would be on the agenda for Thursday, Jan. 22 at 8:00 a.m.

1.    S.B. 27 Telephone and Facsimile Solicitation (D. Thomas)

    Sen. Thomas explained the bill.

    Francine Giani, Division of Consumer Protection further explained the bill.

    Laura Polacheck, Associate State Director, AARP, and Larry Bunkall, Parsons Behle &     Latimer, spoke in support of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Walker moved to pass the bill out favorably.

    The motion passed unanimously.

2.    S.B. 30 Medical Benefits Recovery Act Amendments (S. Killpack)

    Sen. Killpack presented the bill, and a handout was distributed.

    Sen. Killpack explained the bill assisted by Emma Chacon, Dir., ORS/DHS.

     MOTION : Sen. Bramble moved to pass the bill out, as amended, favorably.

    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen. Walker moved to adjourn.

    The motion passed unanimously.
