Committee Chair Wright called the meeting to order at 3:15 p.m.
MOTION: Sen.Killpack moved to approve the minutes of January 28, 2004.
The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Buttars, Gladwell, and Valentine absent for the vote.
1. SJR 007 Resolution Recognizing Sugar House Sesquicentennial (G. Davis)
The bill was not considered today.
2. H.B. 26 Parent-time Schedule Amendments ((S. Daniels)
Rep. Daniels said the bill adds Valentine's Day and Halloween to the list of shared holidays between custodial and noncustodial parents.
MOTION: Sen. Killpack moved to pass the bill out favorably.
The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Buttars, Gladwell and Valentine absent for the vote.
3. H.B. 190 Restricting Wireless Telephone Use for School Bus Drivers
(N. Hendrickson)
MOTION: Sen. Hale moved to amend the bills as follows:
Page 2, Line 36: Delete "or"
Page 2, Line 38: After "activity" delete the period and insert a semicolon
Page 2, Line 38: After line 38 insert the following:
"(d) when communicating with the students' parents; or
(e) when communicating with the driver's school officials. "
The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Buttars , Gladwell and Valentine absent for the vote.
MOTION: Sen. Arent moved to pass the bill out with a favorable recommendation as amended.
The motion passed unanimously.
MOTION: Sen. Arent moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.
Chair Wright adjourned the meeting at 3:35 p.m.
