Committee Chair Walker called the meeting to order at 8:15 a.m.
1. Approval of Minutes
MOTION: Sen Hickman moved to approve the minutes of February 5, 2004.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Eastman, Sen. B. Evans and Sen. Knudson absent at the time of voting.
2. S.B. 219 Amendments to Justice Court Operations (E. Mayne)
Sen. Ed Mayne introduced the bill.
Mark Jones, District Court Administrator, Judicial Council, spoke in opposition to the bill.
Richard Catten, Deputy City Attorney, West Valley City, spoke in support of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Eastman moved to pass S.B. 219 out with a favorable recommendation, with the suggestion that it be amended to include guidelines for the Judicial Council.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. B. Evans absent at the time of voting.
3. H.J.R. 8 Resolution Authorizing the Legislature to Call Itself into Session (C. Bennion)
Rep. Chad Bennion introduced the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Knudson moved to pass H.J.R. 8 out with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed with Sen. Hale voting in opposition and Sen. B. Evans absent at the time of voting.
MOTION: Sen. Hickman moved to adjourn.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. B. Evans absent at the time of voting.
Committee Chair Walker adjourned the meeting at 8:55 a.m.
