1.    S.B. 79 REPEAL OF CHILD WELFARE WORKER DESIGNATIONS (Sen. D. Eastman)

    
Sen. Eastman presented the bill to the committee.

    Richard Anderson, Director, Division of Child and Family Services spoke in favor of the     bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Knudson moved to pass S.B. 79 out of committee with a favorable     recommendation.

    The motion passed with Sen. Thomas, Sen. Julander and Sen. Allen absent at     the time of the vote.
    
2.    S.B. 14 INSURANCE CODE EXEMPTION (Sen. G. Bell)



    
Sen. Bell presented the bill to the committee.

    
Michael Stapley, Deseret Mutual Benefit Association, spoke in favor of the bill.
    
    MOTION: Sen. B. Evans moved to pass S.B. 14 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed with Sen. Thomas absent at the time of the vote.

3.     S.B. 32 USE OF ASTHMA MEDICATION BY PUPILS IN SCHOOL (By P. Arent)

    
Sen. Arent presented the bill to the committee.

     MOTION: Sen. Julander moved to amend the bill as follows:

    Page 2, Line 51:    After line 51 insert:
        "(4) Section 53A-11-904 does not apply to the possession and self-administration of asthma medication in accordance with this section."

    The motion passed with Sen. Thomas absent at the time of the vote.

    Jody Jensen, parent; Ronda Rose, Utah PTA; Susan Kuziak, Utah Education Association;     Wayne Davis, Utah Lung Association; Brad Cahoon, parent; Val Bateman, Utah Medical     Association, and Chantel Johnson, nurse and parent, spoke to the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Knudson moved to pass S.B. 32 out of committee with a favorable     recommendation as amended.

    The motion passed with Sen. Thomas absent at the time of the vote.

5.     S.B. 90 MEDICAL NEGLECT - EXCLUSION (Sen. D. Thomas)
    
     MOTION: Sen. Allen moved to adopt 2nd. Substitute S.B. 90.

    The motion passed unanimously.

    Sen. Thomas presented the bill to the committee.

    Adam Trupp, Division of Child and Family Service and Scott Talbot, parent, spoke to the     bill. Gayle Ruzicka, Eagle Forum and Wayne Searle, Attorney spoke in favor of the bill.     Karen Crompton, Voices for Children; Mark May, Attorney and Kristen Brewer, Gaurdian     ad Litem

    The bill was held at the sponsors request.

     MOTION: Sen. Knudson moved to adjourn.

    The motion passed with all present voting in favor.
