Chair Thomas called the meeting to order at 8:35 a.m.
MOTION: Sen. Killpack moved to approve the minutes of the meeting on February 13, 2004.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hatch absent at the time of voting.
1. S.B. 181 Federal Research Committee (Sen. G. Davis)
Sen. Davis presented the bill and responded to questions from Committee members.
Steve Erickson, Director, Citizens Education Project, spoke in favor of the bill.
Dianne Nielson, Executive Director, Department of Environmental Quality, spoke to the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Julander moved to approve the following amendments:
Page 2, line 51: Delete "four" and insert "three"
Page 2, line 54: Delete "eight" and insert "seven"
The motion passed unanimously.
MOTION: Sen. Julander moved to pass S.B. 181, as amended, out of committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed with Sens. Hatch and Jenkins voting in opposition to the bill.
2. S.B. 237 Pioneer and Community Heritage Amendments (Sen. L. Blackham)
Sen. Blackham presented the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Jenkins moved to pass S.B. 237 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Julander absent at the time of voting.
3. H.B. 79 Right to Display Flag At Personal Residence (Rep. C. Duckworth)
Rep. Duckworth presented the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Hatch moved to pass H.B. 79 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Julander absent at the time of voting.
MOTION: Sen. Jenkins moved to adjourn the meeting.
