7 General Description:
8 This bill creates the Tourism Task Force.
9 Highlighted Provisions:
10 This bill:
11 . creates the Tourism Task Force;
12 . provides for the duties of the task force; and
13 . requires a report from the task force.
14 Monies Appropriated in this Bill:
15 This bill appropriates:
16 . $6,000 to the Senate; and
17 . $8,400 to the House of Representatives.
18 Other Special Clauses:
19 This bill is repealed November 30, 2005.

23 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
24 Section 1. Tourism Task Force -- Creation -- Membership -- Quorum --
25 Compensation -- Staff.
26 (1) There is created the Tourism Task Force consisting of the following 12 members:
27 (a) five members of the Senate appointed by the president of the Senate, no more than
28 three of whom may be from the same political party; and
29 (b) seven members of the House of Representatives appointed by the speaker of the
30 House of Representatives, no more than four of whom may be from the same political party;
31 (2) (a) The president of the Senate shall designate a member of the Senate appointed
32 under Subsection (1)(a) as a cochair of the task force.
33 (b) The speaker of the House of Representatives shall designate a member of the House
34 of Representatives appointed under Subsection (1)(b) as a cochair of the task force.
35 (3) In conducting its business, the task force shall comply with the rules of legislative
36 interim committees.
37 (4) Salaries and expenses of a member of the task force who is a legislator shall be paid
38 in accordance with Section 36-2-2 and Legislative Joint Rule 15.03.
39 (5) The Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel shall provide staff support
40 to the task force.
41 Section 2. Duties -- Interim report.
42 (1) The task force shall review and make recommendations on the following issues:
43 (a) how to attract new tourism year round in the state including convention,
44 recreational, and sports related tourism;
45 (b) how to encourage tourists to:
46 (i) return for multiple visits to the state;
47 (ii) stay longer; and
48 (iii) expend monies while in the state;
49 (c) how to encourage state and local government cooperation in developing tourism
50 initiatives;
51 (d) how to remove impediments, if any, to attracting tourism to the state; and
52 (e) any other issue related to tourism that the task force elects to study.
53 (2) A final report, including any proposed legislation, shall be presented to the
54 Workforce Services and Community and Economic Development Interim Committee before
55 November 30, 2005.
56 Section 3. Appropriation.
57 There is appropriated from the General Fund for fiscal year 2005-06 only:
58 (1) $6,000 to the Senate to pay for the compensation and expenses of senators on the
59 task force; and
60 (2) $8,400 to the House of Representatives to pay for the compensation and expenses
61 of representatives on the task force.
62 Section 4. Repeal date.
63 This bill is repealed November 30, 2005.
