             10      LONG TITLE
             11      General Description:
             12          This joint resolution of the Legislature recognizes the centennial of the Granite School
             13      District.
             14      Highlighted Provisions:
             15          This resolution:
             16          .    recognizes the Granite School District's Centennial and the great work that has been
             17      done by students, teachers, administrators and support staff of the district's schools,
             18      and parents during the past 100 years in the Granite School District; and
             19          .    urges students, teachers, administrators, support staff, parents, and other citizens to
             20      become acquainted with Granite School District's heritage and to participate in
             21      events held during the year to recognize the centennial.
             22      Special Clauses:
             23          None
             24     
             25      Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             26          WHEREAS, on December 15, 1904, the Board of Salt Lake County Commissioners
             27      signed documents that created the Granite and Jordan School Districts;



             28          WHEREAS, from that time forward scores of citizens have given of their time as
             29      elected members of the Granite School District Board of Education;
             30          WHEREAS, since 1904, 15 Granite District superintendents have prepared an
             31      executive educational system for a large share of the state's children, turning none away;
             32          WHEREAS, educators throughout the century have faced the challenges of change as
             33      farming communities developed into today's technology-driven global community;
             34          WHEREAS, thousands of dedicated teachers, administrators, and support staff have
             35      worked diligently to insure that all children develop basic skills, thinking abilities, and strong
             36      characters;
             37          WHEREAS, for 100 years Granite schools and educators have prepared diverse
             38      students from all classes and backgrounds to participate in the greatness of American society;
             39      and
             40          WHEREAS, December 15, 2004, marked the centennial milestone of Granite School
             41      District's history:
             42          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah
             43      recognizes the Granite School District's Centennial and the great work that has been done by
             44      students, teachers, the administrators and support staff of the district's schools, and parents
             45      during the past 100 years in the Granite School District.
             46          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature urges students, teachers,
             47      administrators, support staff, parents, and other citizens to become acquainted with Granite
             48      School District's heritage and to participate in events held during the year as part of recognizing
             49      the centennial.
             50          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Granite
             51      School District and the Granite School District Board of Education.
