MOTION:    Rep. Menlove moved to approve the minutes of the February 9, 2005 meeting. The motion passed unanimously

H.B. 241    Veterans Nursing Home (Rep. D. G. Buxton)

Rep. Buxton introduced H.B. 241 and explained it to the committee. He was assisted by Terry Schow, Director, Veterans Administration. A handout on the proposed project was distributed.

Spoke in favor of the bill:    Bob Jones, State Commander, American Legion
                        Frank Maughan, Disabled American Veterans

MOTION:    Rep. Jones moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.


S.B. 119    Rural Medical Residency Training Programs (Sen. P. Knudson)

Sen. Knudson introduced S.B. 119 and explained it to the committee. He was assisted by Gar Elison, Utah Medical Education Council.




MOTION:    Rep. Jones moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Litvack absent for the vote.


S.B. 74    Medical Reserve Corps (Sen. L. Hillyard)

Sen. Hillyard introduced S.B. 74 and explained it to the committee.

MOTION:    Rep. Ray moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.    Page 2, Lines 46 through 48 :    

             46          (c) within the ten years preceding the declared emergency, held a valid license, in good
             47      standing
  in Utah       , for one of the occupations described in Subsection 58-13-2 (1), but the license is not

             48      currently active.

The motion to amend the bill passed unanimously with Rep. Litvack absent for the vote.

MOTION:    Rep. Menlove moved to pass the bill as amended out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Litvack absent for the vote.


S.B. 126    Medical Benefits Recovery Act Amendments (Sen. S. Killpack)

Sen. Killpack introduced S.B. 126 and explained it to the committee, assisted by Emma Chacon, Director, Office of Recovery Services.

Spoke in favor of the bill:    Brian King, Utah Trial Lawyers Association

MOTION:    Rep. Jones moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Litvack absent for the vote.

H.R. 10    Resolution Supporting Participation of Taiwan in World Health Organization (Rep. B. Last)

Rep. Last introduced H.R. 10 and explained it to the committee.

MOTION:    Rep. Buxton moved to pass the resolution out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Litvack absent for the vote.
