Vice Chair Donnelson called the meeting to order at 3:16 p.m.

MOTION:    Rep. Allen moved to approve the minutes of the January 28, 2005 meeting. The              motion passed unanimously.

H.B. 227    Corporate Franchise and Income Taxes - Exemption for Banks (Rep. W.                                                                          Harper)

Rep. Harper introduced the bill and explained its intent. Mike Jerman, Utah Taxpayers Association, and Howard Headlee, President, Utah Bankers Association, spoke for the bill.

MOTION:    Rep. Snow moved to hold the bill. The motion passed with Rep. Cosgrove, Rep. Frank, Rep. McGee, Rep. Moss, Rep. Harper, and Rep. Donnelson voting in opposition to the motion. Rep. Romero was absent for the vote.     


H.B. 220    Sales and Use Tax Exemption for Textbooks for Higher Education (Rep. D.                                                                                                              Bourdeaux)

Rep. Bourdeaux introduced the bill and explained its intent.

MOTION:    Rep. Frank moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed with Rep. Allen,         Rep. Hunsaker, Rep. Last, Rep. Murray, Rep. Newbold, and Rep. Snow voting in opposition to the motion.

MOTION:    Rep. Painter moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.

The Vice Chair adjourned the meeting at 3:50 p.m.
