Rep. Michael Morley called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m.

MOTION:    Rep. Goodfellow moved to approve the minutes of January 21, 2005 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Bigelow, Rep. Lockhart, Rep. Morgan and Rep. Newbold absent for the vote.


H.B. 44    Additional State Retirement Benefit (Rep. L. Shurtliff)

Rep. Shurtliff explained the bill to the committee with the assistance of Kent Able, Director, Utah Retired School Employees.

Rob Ensign, Director of AARP spoke for the bill.

MOTION:    Rep. Hansen moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Newbold absent for the vote.



H.B. 217    Public Safety Retirement - Exemption of Certain Employees (Rep. D. Clark)

Rep. Clark explained the bill to the committee.

Ken Wallentine, Chair, Utah Law Enforcement Legislative Committee, spoke for the bill.

MOTION:    Rep. Goodfellow moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Newbold absent for the vote.

H.B. 213    Unused Sick Leave At Retirement Amendments (Rep. D. Clark)

MOTION:    Rep. Clark moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.    Page 2, Lines 42 through 43 :    

             42      Other Special Clauses:
             43          
{   None   }        This bill takes effect on January 1, 2006.      


2.    Page 7, Line 198 :    

             198      (2)(a)(ii).
 

Section 6. Effective date.
    This bill takes effect on January 1, 2006.  

    The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Newbold absent for the vote.

Rep. Clark explained the amended bill to the committee and provided handouts.

MOTION:    Rep. Bigelow moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously and the Chair adjourned the meeting at 2:05 p.m.
