Rep. Murray called the meeting to order at 2:12 pm and welcomed those in attendance. Committee members and staff introduced themselves.


H.B. 48    Motor Vehicle Registration and Safety Inspection Amendments (Rep. B. Daw)

Rep. Daw introduced H.B. 48 and explained it to the committee.

MOTION:        Rep. Alexander moved to amend the bill as follows.

1.    Page 1, Lines 13 through 15 :    


             13          .    provides that a motor vehicle safety and emissions inspection certificate is valid for
             14     
{   six   }        three       months instead of two months for purposes of registration or renewal of

             15      registration of a motor vehicle; and

2.    Page 2, Lines 34 through 48 :

{   Subsection   }        Subsections       (2)(b),        ©, and (d),       for purposes of registration or renewal of registration of a motor

             35      vehicle, a safety inspection certificate is valid for

             37      certificate issued for the motor vehicle during the previous

             40      inspection certificate issued for the motor vehicle in a licensed and bonded motor vehicle
             41      dealer's name during the previous six months may be used to satisfy the requirement under

             44      safety inspection certificate issued during the previous six months may be used to satisfy the
             45      requirement under Subsection (1).

             47      inspection required under this section may be made no more than 11 months prior to the

The motion to amend the bill passed with Rep Murray voting against the motion.

MOTION:    Rep. Dunnigan moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed with Reps. Murray and Morgan voting against the motion.

MOTION:    Rep. Dunnigan moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 2:48 pm.
