Committee Chair Scott K. Jenkins called the meeting to order at 2:15 p.m.
MOTION: Sen. Waddoups moved to adopt the minutes of January 21, 2005.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis and Sen. Mayne absent for the vote.
1. H.B. 10 Employment Security Act Amendments (D. Cox)
Rep. Cox explained the bill assisted by Mike Sullivan, Director, Communications, Workforce Services
Jim Olsen, President, Utah Food Industry Association, spoke in support of the bill.
Wally McCormick, Chairman, Constitution Party, Salt Lake City spoke to the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Waddoups moved to pass the bill out favorably.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Mayne absent for the vote.
2. H.B. 26 Conveyances of Property (J. S. Adams)
Rep. Adams explained the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Mansell moved to pass the bill out favorably.
The motion passed unanimously.
Committee Chair Jenkins announced that S.B. 75 will be heard in another meeting.
3. S.B. 48 Insurance Cancellation and Nonrenewal Restrictions (P. Arent)
Sen. Arent explained the bill assisted by Rep. Curt Oda, and 1st Sub. 48 was distributed.
MOTION: Sen. Davis moved to adopt 1st Sub. 48.
The motion passed unanimously.
Chris Purcell, State Farm Insurance spoke to the bill.
Brian Allen, American Family Insurance and Gary Thorup, Attorney, Property & Casualty Insurance Carriers of America expressed concerns about the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Mansell moved to go to the next item on the agenda.
