Committee Chair Waddoups called the meeting to order at 9:06 a.m.
1. Approval of Minutes
MOTION: Sen. Peterson moved to approve the minutes of February 15, 2005.
The motion passed unanimously.
2. S.B. 187 Special Hunting Permits for Antelope Island (Sen. J. Hickman)
Sen. Bill Hickman introduced the bill. Don Peay, Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife, assisted in the presentation.
MOTION: Sen. Peterson moved replace S.B. 187 with 1st Substitute S.B. 187.
The motion passed unanimously.
Mary Tullius, Director, State Parks; Dan McConkie, Davis County Commissioner; Debbie Goodman, Utah Audubon Council; Spencer Kinard, President, Friends of Antelope Island; and Scott Baxter, Great Salt Lake Adventures, spoke in opposition to the bill.
Bill Rigby, Centerville resident and Supervisor, UACD, spoke in support of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Hatch moved to pass 1st Sub. S.B. 187, Special Hunting Permits for Antelope Island (Sen. J. Hickman), out favorably.
The motion passed with Sen. Waddoups, Sen. Hatch and Sen. Peterson voting in support and Sen. Fife and Sen. McCoy voting in opposition.
MOTION: Sen. Hatch moved to adjourn.
The motion passed unanimously.
Chair Waddoups adjourned the meeting at 9:39 a.m.
