7 LONG TITLE
8 General Description:
9 This bill requires that funding for Children's Justice Centers be based on percentage of
10 caseload, and appropriates $100,000 to the Office of the Attorney General for the
11 operation of Children's Justice Centers throughout the state.
12 Highlighted Provisions:
13 This bill:
14 . requires funding for Children's Justice Centers be allocated to each center based on
15 a percentage of statewide caseload; and
16 . appropriates $100,000 to the Office of the Attorney General for the operation of
17 Children's Justice Centers.

28 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
29 Section 1. Section 67-5b-103 is amended to read:
30 67-5b-103. Appropriation and funding.
31 (1) Funding for centers under this section is intended to be broad-based, provided by a
32 line item appropriation by the Legislature to the attorney general, and is intended to include
33 federal grant monies, local government monies, and private donations.
34 (2) The money appropriated shall be used to contract with intergovernmental bodies
35 that qualify under Section 67-5b-104 to provide a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, nonprofit,
36 intergovernmental response to abused children and to cover administrative costs of
37 coordination of the centers' operations.
38 (3) Allocation of funding for each center shall be based on the proportion of cases
39 handled by each center of the entire statewide caseload. Funding for each year shall be based
40 on the prior fiscal year's caseload.
41 Section 2. Appropriation.
42 There is appropriated $100,000 from the General Fund for fiscal year 2006-07 only, to
43 the Office of the Attorney General for the operation of Children's Justice Centers throughout
44 the state.
