Rep. Morley called the meeting to order at 9:07 a.m.

MOTION:    Rep. Kiser moved to approve the minutes of January 24, 2006. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Christensen, Rep. Harper, Rep. Ray, and Rep. Urquhart absent for the vote.

H.B. 125    State Long-term Care for Inmates (Rep. J. Biskupski)

Rep. Biskupski introduced the bill.

MOTION:    Rep. Litvack moved to amend the bill as follows:


1.    Page 1, Lines 23 through 24
    House Committee Amendments
    1-26-2006 :
    

             23              .    stating that the administrator shall provide this information to residents H. or
             23a      their guardians .H and staff
             24      H. [30] ten .H days prior to admission of the offender.

2.    Page 2, Lines 50 through 52


    House Committee Amendments
    1-26-2006 :
    

             50          (c) that the information provided by the department regarding the offender shall be
             51      provided to employees H. [or residents] .H of the facility no later than H. [30] ten .H days
             51a      prior to the offender's
             52      admission to the facility.

3.    Page 2, Lines 52a through 52c

    1-26-2006 :
    

             52a          H. (3) The administrator of the facility shall provide residents of the facility or their
             52b      guardians notice that a convicted felon is being admitted to the facility no later than ten days
             52c      prior to the offender's admission to the facility. .H

The motion passed unanimously, with Rep. Christensen, Rep. Harper, Rep. Ray and Rep. Urquhart absent for the vote.











MOTION:    Rep. Harper moved to further amend the bill as follows:


1.    Page 1, Lines 10 through 11

             10      require the department to H. [provide appropriate health care for terminally and chronically
             11      ill patients, and to require that the department
] .H provide notice to any health care facilities

2.    Page 1, Lines 16 through 17

             16          H. [    .requires the Department of Corrections to provide for the health care needs of an
             17      inmate who is chronically or terminally ill;

3.    Page 2, Lines 41 through 43
    House Committee Amendments
    1-26-2006 :
    

             41          H. [(2) The department shall provide appropriate health care for an inmate who is
             42      chronically ill or who is terminally ill.

] (2) .H If an inmate is given an early release, pardon, or parole due to a chronic




The motion passed, with Rep. Bourdeaux voting in opposition. Rep. Urquhart was absent for the vote.

MOTION:    Rep. Bourdeaux moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously, with Rep. Urquhart absent for the vote.

MOTION:    Rep. Harper moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously. Rep. Morley         adjourned the meeting at 10:00 a.m.
