Rep. Dee called the meeting to order at 9:10 a.m.

H.B. 205    Repeal of Obsolete Dependent Special Districts (Rep. Julie Fisher)

Rep. Fisher introduced and explained the bill to the committee.

Spoke to the bill: LeGrand Bitter, Executive Director, Utah Association of Special Districts

MOTION:    Rep. Hardy moved to pass H.B. 205 our favorably and place it on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed unanimously, with Rep. Becker and Rep. King absent for the vote.

H.B. 207    Inherent Risks of Participating in Recreational Activities on Property Owned by Local Government (Rep. D. Bowman)

Rep. Bowman introduced and explained the bill to the committee. (Handout)

MOTION:    Rep. Holdaway moved to amend H.B. 207 as follows:

1. Page 2, Line 41: after "ice skating," insert "climbing walls,"


    The motion passed unanimously, with Rep. Becker and Rep. King absent for the vote.


MOTION:    Rep. Menlove moved to amend H.B. 207 to include the word, "swimming" on line 41.

SUBSTITUTE
MOTION:     Rep. Lawrence moved amend H.B. 207 by reordering the itemized list on lines 40 and 41.

Robert H. Rees, Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel, responded to questions from the committee.

Rep. Lawrence withdrew her substitute motion to amend. Rep. Menlove withdrew her motion to amend. The committee decided to hold the bill until the next meeting.

MOTION:    Rep. Shurtliff moved to adjourn the meeting. The vote was unanimous. Rep. Dee adjourned the meeting at 9:50 a.m.
