Vice Chair Donnelson called the meeting to order at 4:26 p.m.

MOTION:    Rep. Murray moved to approve the minutes of the February 8, 2006 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Last and Rep. Newbold absent for the vote.

H.B. 396    Amendments to the Property Tax Exemption for Disabled Veterans (Rep. M. Morley)

Rep. Morley introduced the bill and explained it to the committee. Larry Richardson, Salt Lake County Treasurer, spoke to the bill.

MOTION:    Rep. Painter moved to transmit the bill with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Allen and Rep. McGee absent for the vote.


MOTION:    Rep. Hunsaker moved that HB 396 be placed on the consent calendar. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Allen and Rep. McGee absent for the vote.

H.B. 438    Sales and Use Tax - Dinner Theaters (Rep. D. Ure)

Rep. Ure introduced the bill and explained it to the committee. Michael Todd, President and Owner of Desert Star Theater, accompanied Rep. Ure and spoke in favor of the bill. Rod Marrelli, Utah State Tax Commission, spoke to the bill.

MOTION:    Rep. Snow moved to transmit the bill with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. McGee absent for the vote.

H.B. 273    Sales and Use Tax Exemption for Textbooks for Higher Education (Rep. D. Bourdeaux)

Rep. Moss introduced the bill, explained it to the committee, and distributed a handout. Commissioner Pam Hendrickson, Utah State Tax Commission, spoke to the bill. No action was taken on the bill.

MOTION:    Rep. Last moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Allen, Rep. McGee, Rep. Snow, and Rep. Painter absent for the vote.

The Vice Chair adjourned the meeting at 5:05 p.m.
