Rep. Mascaro called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m.
MOTION: Rep. Morgan moved to approve the minutes of January 24, 2006. The motion passed unanimously, with Rep. Fisher and Rep. Walker absent for the vote.
H.B. 142 Center for Multicultural Health - Duties (Rep. R. Romero)
Rep. Romero explained the bill with the assistance of Owen Quinonez, Director, Center for Multicultural Health.
MOTION: Rep. Morgan moved to amend the bill as follows:
1. Page 1, Line 11 :
11 building for translation and communication services for

the Hispanic

2. Page 2, Lines 49 through 50 :
49 (f) develop and increase the capacity of the center to provide
linguistically

The motion to amend passed, with Rep. Barrus and Rep. Walker voting in opposition.
Rep. Romero requested that the bill be amended on line 56. He suggested that the fiscal year be deleted and that $150,000 be changed to $250,000. After committee discussion the request was withdrawn.
MOTION: Rep. Fisher moved to pass the bill out favorably as amended.
SUBSTITUTE
MOTION: Rep. Barrus moved to pass the bill out favorably and amend the bill as follows:
l. Page 2 Line 56 Delete "$150,000" and add "$100,000"
The substitute motion to amend and pass the bill out favorably passed unanimously.
MOTION: Rep. Cox moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.
Rep. Mascaro adjourned the meeting at 9:51 a.m.
