Chair Jenkins called the meeting to order at 8:10 a.m., and announced that S.B. 244 Business Resource Centers (P. Knudson) would not be heard.
Approval of Minutes
MOTION: Sen. Hickman moved to approve the minutes of the February 13, 2006 and February 14, 2006 meetings.
The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Hatch, Killpack, Mansell, Davis, and Mayne absent for the vote.
1. S.B. 234 Servicing of Heating or Cooling Duct Systems (P. Hellewell))
Sen. Hellewell introduced the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Davis moved to pass the bill out favorably.
The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Mansell and Waddoups absent for the vote
2. 1st Sub. H.B. 72 Workers' Compensation for the State (G. Snow)
Rep. Snow introduced the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Mayne moved to adopt the following amendment:
1. Page 2, Line 53 :
53 (6) No two directors may represent
or be employed by
the same policyholder.
The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Mansell and Waddoups absent for the vote.
Paul Rogers, Workers Compensation Fund, spoke to the bill.
Mike Zuhl, Employers Insurance Group; Gary Thorup, Property & Casualty Insurance Companies of America; and Tom Bingham, Utah Manufacturers Association, spoke in support of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Killpack moved to pass the bill out favorably as amended.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Waddoups absent for the vote.
3. H.B. 241 Industrial Protection Act (R. Menlove)
Rep. Menlove introduced the bill.
Tom Bingham, Utah Manufacturers Association; Candace Daly, Nucor Steel; and Dave Nicponski, ATK Thiokol, spoke in support of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Mayne moved to pass the bill out favorably.
The motion passed unanimously.
