Sen. Christensen called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m.
MOTION: Sen. Goodfellow moved to approve the minutes of the Jan. 24, 2006 meeting.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. McCoy being absent for the vote.
1. S.B. 0094 Amendments to Utah Comprehensive Health Insurance Pool
(G. Davis)
Sen. Davis explained that the bill requires a portion of the premium tax paid by admitted insurers to be deposited each year in the Comprehensive Health Insurance Pool Enterprise Fund to maintain the fund's actuarial soundness.
Randall Smart, Chairman of the Board, HIPUtah, spoke in favor of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Bell moved to pass the bill out favorably.
The motion passed unanimously.
2. S.B. 0172 Vital Statistics Act Amendments (T. Hatch)
The bill was not discussed.
3. S.R. 0003 Resolution Urging Participation by Taiwan in World Health Organization (C. Bramble)
Sen. Bramble explained that the resolution urges the Bush Administration to support Taiwan's participation in the World Health Organization.
MOTION: Sen. Goodfellow moved to pass the bill out favorably.
The motion passed unanimously.
