Committee Vice Chair Bell called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
Vice Chair Bell announced that H.B. 89, Adoption and Vital Statistics Amendments, would not be heard.
1. H.B. 227 Underage Tattooing Penalty Amendment (Rep. D. Ure)
Rep. David Ure presented the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Arent moved to pass H.B. 227 out of committee with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Christensen and Dmitrich absent for the vote.
MOTION: Sen. Arent moved to place H.B. 227 on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Christensen and Dmitrich absent for the vote.
2. 1st Sub. H.B. 274 Removal of County or Prosecution District Officer Amendments (Rep. S. Wyatt)
Rep. Scott L. Wyatt presented the bill assisted by Karl Hendrickson, Utah Association of Counties.
MOTION: Sen. Dmitrich moved to pass 1st Sub. H.B. 274 out of committee with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Christensen absent for the vote.
3. H.B. 244 Aggravated Assault by Prisoners Amendment (Rep. S. Wyatt)
Rep. Wyatt presented the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Arent moved to pass H.B. 244 out of committee with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Christensen absent for the vote.
4. Approval of Minutes
MOTION: Sen. Arent moved to approve the minutes of February 10, 2006. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Christensen absent for the vote.
5. H.B. 83 Driver License Privilege Suspension for Failure to Pay Child Support (Rep. Julie Fisher)
Rep. Julie Fisher presented the bill and distributed a handout.

MOTION: Sen. Madsen moved to pass H.B. 306 out of committee with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Dmitrich absent for the vote.

8. H.B. 125 State Long-term Care for Inmates (Rep. J. Biskupski)
Rep. Jackie Biskupski presented the bill. Ann Hart, Salt Lake County Ombudsman, spoke in support of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Thomas moved to pass H.B. 125 out of committee with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Dmitrich absent for the vote.
1st Sub. H.B. 220 was not heard.
MOTION: Sen. Arent moved to adjourn.
