Approval of Minutes

    MOTION:
Sen. Peterson moved to approve the minutes of February 3, 2006.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Bell and Dmitrich absent for the vote.

1.    S.B. 179 Amendments to Sales and Use Tax Exemptions for Certain Vehicles, Boats,     Boat Trailers, and Outboard Motors (H. Stephenson)     
    Sen. Stephenson explained the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Stephenson moved to transmit the bill with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Bell and Dmitrich absent for the vote.

Sen. Peterson assumed the Chair.

2.    S.B. 198 Property Tax - Intangible Property (C. Bramble)

    

    Committee Chair Bramble explained the bill.



    Mark Buchi, T-Mobile spoke in support of the bill.

     MOTION: Committee Chair Bramble moved to transmit the bill with a favorable     recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Dmitrich absent for the vote.

3.    H.B. 265 Due Date for Filing Electronically Filed Withholding Returns (M. Newbold)

    
Rep. Newbold explained the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Stephenson moved to transmit the bill with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen. Stephenson moved that the bill be placed on the Consent Calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously.

4.    S.B. 206 Child Protection Registry Amendments (M. Dmitrich)

    
MOTION: Sen. Stephenson moved to adopt 1st Sub. S.B. 206.

    The motion passed unanimously.

    Sen. Stephenson explained the bill.

    Thad LeVar, Director, Division of Consumer Protection, answered questions from the     committee.

    Patrick A. Shea, Attorney spoke to the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Bell moved to transmit the bill with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.

5.    H.B. 261 Property Tax Revisions (M. Newbold)

    
Rep. Newbold explained the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Dmitrich moved to transmit the bill with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Committee Chair Bramble absent for the vote.



     MOTION: Sen. Peterson moved that the bill be placed on the Consent Calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously with Committee Chair Bramble absent for the vote.

6.    H.B. 86 Property Tax - Refunding Tax Prepayments (F. Hunsaker)

    
MOTION: Sen. Dmitrich moved to amend the bill as follows:

    Page 3, Line 62:        After "body" delete "may" and insert "shall"

    The motion passed unanimously with Committee Chair Bramble absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. Goodfellow moved to transmit the bill with a favorable recommendation as     amended.

7.    H.J.R. 2 Resolution Urging Congressional Action on the Tax Deductibility of Medical     Expenses by Individuals (E. Hutchings)

    Candace Daly, State Director, National Federation of Independent Businesses, spoke in     support of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Goodfellow moved to transmit the bill with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Committee Chair Bramble absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. Goodfellow moved that the bill be placed on the Consent Calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously with Committee Chair Bramble absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. Stephenson moved to adjourn.
