Committee Chair Evans called the meeting to order at 1:08 p.m.

1.    H.B. 0011 Retirement Office Amendments (A. Hardy)

    Rep. Hardy explained the bill.

    Dan Andersen, Utah Retirement Systems, spoke in support of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Hale moved to pass the bill out with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Walker absent for the vote.

2.    H.B. 0224S01 Retirement System Participation (D. Clark)

    Rep. Clark explained the bill.

    Dennis Lloyd, Worker's Compensation Fund, spoke in support of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Hale moved to pass the bill out with a favorable recommendation.
    
     The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Walker absent for the vote.    



3.    H.B. 0209 Partial Lump-sum Retirement Payment Option
(D. Clark)

    Rep. Clark explained the bill.

    Dan Andersen, Utah Retirement Systems, answered questions from the committee.
    Courtney White, Utah Education Assn., spoke in support of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Hale moved to pass the bill out with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Walker absent for the vote.    

4.    H.B. 0225 Post Retirement Employment (G. Donnelson)

    Rep. Donnelson explained the bill.

    Scott Carver, Deputy Director, Dept. of Corrections, spoke in opposition to the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Davis moved to go to the next item on the agenda.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen.Walker absent for the vote.    

5.    H.B. 0346 State Employee Retirement Benefits Amendments (J. Dougall)

    Rep. Dougal explained the bill.

    Michael Sullivan, Governor's Office of Economic Development, spoke in support of the bill. Dan Andersen, Utah Retirement Systems, spoke to the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Davis moved to table the bill.

    The motion failed with Sen. Hale, Sen. Walker, and Sen. Evans voting in opposition.
    
     MOTION: Sen. Davis moved to adjourn.

     The motion passed unanimously.

    Committee Chair Evans adjourned the meeting at 1:40 p.m.
