Chair Walker called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m.
MOTION: Sen. Fife to approve the minutes of February 9, 2006. The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Eastman and Mayne absent for the vote.
1. H.B. 218 Schools for the Deaf and Blind Salary Adjustment (K. Morgan)
Rep. Morgan presented the bill.
Steven Petersen, Associate and Executive Director, Utah School Board Association, spoke in favor of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Fife moved to pass H.B. 218 out of committee with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Eastman and Mayne absent for the vote.
MOTION: Sen. Madsen moved to place H.B. 218 on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Eastman and Mayne absent for the vote.
2. H.B. 8 Marriage Preparation Education (R. McGee)
Rep. McGee presented the bill and distributed a handout.
Shane Adamson, Director, Family First Counseling, spoke in favor of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Fife moved to pass H.B. 8 out of committee with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously.
3. 2nd Sub. H.B. 236 Department of Commerce - Demographic Data Tracking (M. Wheatley)
Rep. Wheatley presented the bill.
