Chair Bell called the meeting to order at 4:20 p.m.
    
Approval of Minutes

    MOTION:
Sen. Romero moved to approve the minutes of February 16, 2007.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Madsen and McCoy absent for the vote.

1.    H.B. 45 Comparative Negligence Amendments (Rep. S. Wyatt)

    The bill was held until the next meeting.

2.    H.B. 342 Protective Order Revisions (Rep. S. Wyatt)

    Rep. Wyatt explained the bill.

    Gregory Castle, President, No More Homeless Pets; Gene Barerschmidt, Executive Director,

    Humane Society of Utah; and Ned Searle, Utah Domestic Violence Council, spoke to the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Romero moved to pass H.B. 342 out of Committee with a favorable     recommendation.

    The motion passed with Sen. Greiner voting against the motion and Sen. McCoy absent for     the vote.

3.    H.B. 326 Repeal of Juvenile Justice Services Victim Restitution Account
    (Rep. D. Aagard)

    Rep. Aagard explained the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Madsen moved to pass H.B. 326 out of Committee with a favorable     recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. McCoy absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. Romero moved to place H.B. 326 on the Consent Calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. McCoy absent for the vote.

4.    H.B. 333 Materials Harmful to Minors (Rep. A. Tilton)

    Sen. Madsen explained the bill.

    Karen Clark, Vice President, Utah Eagle Forum, spoke in favor of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Greiner moved to pass H.B. 333 out of Committee with a favorable     recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. McCoy absent for the vote.

5.    H.B. 194 Tampering with Evidence Amendments (Rep. L. Fowlke)

    Rep. Fowlke explained the bill.

    Joel Allred, Utah Trial Lawyers Association, assisted in the explanation and spoke in favor of     the bill.

    John F. Fay, Attorney, Gregory and Swapp, spoke in favor of the bill.


     MOTION: Sen. McCoy moved to pass H.B. 194 out of Committee with a favorable     recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen. Romero moved to adjourn.

    Chair Bell adjourned the meeting at 5:00 p.m.
