Chair Niederhauser called the meeting to order at 8:10 a.m.
    
Approval of Minutes

    MOTION:
Sen. Greiner moved to approve the minutes of January 25, 2007.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Goodfellow and Waddoups absent for the vote.

1.    S.B. 37 Sales and Use Tax - Dental Prostheses (P. Knudson)     
    Sen. Knudson explained the bill.

    Monte Thompson, Director, Utah Dental Association, spoke in favor of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Dmitrich moved to delete in title and body S.B. 37 and adopt
    1st Sub. S.B. 37.
    
    The motion passed with Sen. Goodfellow absent for the vote.

    


    MOTION:
Sen. Greiner moved to pass 1st Sub. S.B. 37 out of Committee with a favorable     recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.

2.    S.B. 64 Tourism, Recreation, Cultural, and Convention Facilities Tax - Imposition,     Distribution, and Expenditure of Revenues (M. Waddoups)

    Sen. Waddoups explained the bill.

    Russ Wall, Mayor, Taylorsville, and Tom Dolan, Mayor, Sandy, spoke in favor of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Waddoups moved to adopt the following amendments to S.B. 64:
    
    Page 2, Line 29:    after "requires" insert "certain"

    Page 6, Line 173:    after "body of" bracket "any" and insert " a " and after "county"                 insert " of the first class "

    Page 7, Line 184:    after " county " delete " legislative body " and insert " of the first                 class "

    The motion passed unanimously.

    Peter Corroon, Mayor, Salt Lake County, and Adam Trupp, Legal Counsel, Utah Association of Counties spoke against the bill.

    Brent Overson, Citizen, spoke in favor of the bill.

    Jeff Hatch, Auditor, Salt Lake County, spoke to the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Waddoups moved to pass S.B. 64, as amended, out of Committee with     a favorable recommendation.

    The motion failed with Chair Niederhauser and Sens. Dmitrich and Waddoups voting for     the motion.

     MOTION: Sen. Greiner moved to adjourn.

    The meeting was adjourned at 9:50 a.m. by Chair Niederhauser.
