Chair Niederhauser called the meeting to order at 4:05 p.m.
Approval of Minutes
MOTION: Sen. Greiner moved to approve the minutes of February 9, 2007.
The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Dmitrich absent for the vote.
Sen. Greiner assumed the Chair.
1. S.B. 266 Income Tax Filing Amendments (Sen. W. Niederhauser)
Sen. Niederhauser explained the bill.
Bruce Johnson, Utah State Tax Commission, spoke in favor of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Niederhauser moved to pass S.B. 266 out of Committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Dmitrich absent for the vote.
MOTION: Sen. Niederhauser moved to place S.B. 266 on the Consent Calendar.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Dmitrich absent for the vote.
2. S.B. 242 Income Tax Additions, Subtractions, and Tax Credits for Higher Education Savings (Sen. G. Bell)
Sen. Bell explained the bill and distributed a handout.
Lynn Ward, Executive Director, Utah Educational Savings Plan, assisted in the explanation of the bill.
Sen. Goodfellow commended Ms. Ward for her service.
MOTION: Sen. Goodfellow moved to pass S.B. 242 out of Committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously .
3. 2nd Sub. H.B. 58 New School District Leeway Retention (Rep. B. Daw)
