Chair Niederhauser called the meeting to order at 5:13 p.m.
Approval of Minutes
MOTION: Sen. Greiner moved to approve the minutes of February 16, 2007.
The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Bramble, Dmitrich, Goodfellow and Stephenson absent for the vote.
Sen. Waddoups assumed the Committee Chair.
1. Income Tax Credits, Additions, and Subtractions for College Savings (W. Niederhauser)
Chair Niederhauser explained the bill assisted by Rebecca Rockwell, Associate General Counsel, LRGC.
Chris Kyler, Securities and Financial Marketing, and Paul Rogers, Fidelity Investments spoke in support of the bill.
Lynne Ward, Director, Utah Education Savings Plan, and Doug Peterson, citizen, spoke in opposition to the bill.
MOTION: Committee Chair Niederhauser moved to pass S.B. 177 out of Committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Bramble absent for the vote.
Committee Chair Niederhauser resumed the Chair.
2. S.B. 246 Government Law Changes (S. Killpack)
Sen. Killpack explained the bill.
Eric Weiss, Associate General Counsel, LRGC, answered questions from the committee.
MOTION: Sen. Greiner moved to pass S.B. 246 out of Committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Bramble absent for the vote.
3. S.B. 254 Private Investigator Regulation Amendments (M. Dayton)
Sen. Dayton explained the bill.
John Tinsley, Private Investigator, Private Investigators of Utah, further clarified the bill.
Mel Ashton, President, Private Investigators of Utah, spoke in support of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Dmitrich moved to pass S.B. 254 out of Committee with a favorable recommendation.
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Stephenson absent for the vote.
MOTION: Sen. Bramble moved to adjourn.
