Members Present:     Sen. Carlene Walker, Chair

A list of visitors and a copy of handouts are filed with the committee minutes.

Committee Chair Walker called the meeting to order at 2:20 p.m. and announced that S.B. 17 will be moved to the top of the agenda and that S.B. 36 will not be heard today.

1.     S.B. 17 Traffic Code Amendments (S. Jenkins)

    
Sen. Jenkins explained the bill and answered questions from the committee.

    Neldon Jones, Engineer, and Col. Lance Davenport, Superintendent, Utah Highway Patrol,     spoke in support of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Dmitrich moved to pass the bill out favorably.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Killpack absent for the vote.

2.    S.B. 100 Motor Vehicle License and Registration Fees Exemption for Purple Heart     License Plates (J. Hickman)

    Sen. Hickman explained the bill.



     MOTION: Sen. Dmitrich moved to pass the bill out favorably.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Killpack and Jenkins absent for the vote.
    
3.    S.B. 84 Confidentiality of Reports to Driver License Division (A. Christensen)

Sen. Killpack assumed the chair.

    
Sen. Christensen explained the bill.

    Rex Black, former senator, spoke to the bill.

    Wally Wintle, Bureau Chief, Driver License Division, spoke in support of the bill and     answered questions from the committee.

     MOTION: Sen. Jenkins moved to pass the bill out favorably.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Walker and Dmitrich absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. Jenkins moved to adjourn.

    The motion passed unanimously at 3:05 p.m. with Sens. Walker and Dmitrich absent for the     vote.
