Committee Chair Walker called the meeting to order at 8:02 a.m.

Approval of Minutes

    MOTION:
Sen. VanTassell moved to approve the minutes of February 12 , 2007.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Jenkins, Dmitrich and Mayne absent for the vote.

1.    1st Sub. H.B. 106 Utility Facility Review Board (A. Tilton)

    
Rep. Tilton explained the bill assisted by Rey Butcher, Director, Government Relations,     Questar.



    
     MOTION : Sen. VanTassell moved to pass the bill out favorably.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Jenkins , Dmitrich and Mayne absent for the     vote.
    
2.    H.B. 315 Regulation of Electric Personal Assistive Mobility Devices (A. Tilton)

    Rep. Tilton explained the bill.

    Choc Shelley, Manager, Segway Dealership of Utah, demonstrated and explained the use of     the Segway device.

     MOTION: Sen. Jenkins moved to pass the bill out favorably.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Mayne absent for the vote.

3.    H.B. 301 Department of Transportation Projects - Categorically Excluded     Environmental Projects (S. Urquhart)

    Rep. Urquhart explained the bill.

    Linda Hull, Director of Legislative and Government Affairs, Utah Department of     Transportation, further clarified the bill and answered questions from the committee.     

     MOTION: Sen. Dmitrich moved to pass the bill out favorably.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Mayne absent for the vote.

4.    H.B. 268 Special Group License Plate Symbol Decal Reorder Amendments
    (R. Menlove)

    
Rep. Menlove explained the bill.

    Jay Westergard, Utah State Firemen's Association, Garland Fire Department, further     explained and spoke in support of the bill

    Rod Marrelli, Executive Director, Utah Tax Commission, further clarified the bill and     answered questions from the committee.




     MOTION: Sen. Mayne moved to pass the bill out favorably.

    The motion passed unanimously.

5.    H.B. 297 Calculation of Credit for Certain Repossessions of a Motor Vehicle
    (W. Harper)

    
Sen. Niederhauser explained the bill.

    Wayne Jones, Executive Director, Independent Auto Dealers, further clarified and spoke in     support of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. VanTassell moved to pass the bill out favorably.

    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen. Dmitrich moved to place the bill on the Consent Calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen. VanTassell moved to adjourn.

    The motion passed unanimously at 8:45 a.m.
