Acting Chair Eastman called the meeting to order at 8:10 a.m.
MOTION: Sen. Stowell moved to approve the minutes of January 31, 2007. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Madsen absent at the time of the vote.
1. S.B. 198 Tourism Amendments
Sen. Curtis S. Bramble presented the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Fife moved to pass S.B. 198, Tourism Amendments, out of committee with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously.
Chair Madsen assumed the chair.
Chair Madsen announced that S.B. 68, Funding for Tourism Promotion, would not be heard at the request of the sponsor.
2. S.B. 204 Human Remains Related Amendments
Sen. Darin G. Peterson proposed a substitute bill.
MOTION: Sen. Eastman moved to delete S.B. 204, Human Remains Related Amendments, in title and body and replace with 1st Sub. 204, Human Remains Related Amendments. The motion passed unanimously.
Sen. Peterson presented the substitute bill. Palmer DePaulis, Executive Director, Division of Community and Culture, and Kevin Jones, archeologist, Division of State History, answered questions and spoke in support.
MOTION: Sen. Jones moved to pass 1st Sub. 204, Human Remains Related Amendments, out of committee with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously.
3. S.B. 217 Science and Technology Education Program Amendments
Sen. Peter C. Knudson presented the bill. Greg Jones, State Science Advisor, Governor's Office of Economic Development, answered questions and spoke in support.
MOTION: Sen. Stowell moved to pass S.B. 217, Science and Technology Education Program Amendments, out of committee with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously.
MOTION: Sen. Eastman moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.
Chair Madsen adjourned the meeting at 8:51 a.m.
