8 General Description:
9 This bill authorizes the state engineer to administer an interstate water source.

25 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
26 Section 1. Section 73-2-29 is enacted to read:
27 73-2-29. Agreement with another state -- Regulation, distribution, and

28 administration of interstate water.
29 (1) The state engineer, after receiving approval from the executive director of the
30 Department of Natural Resources and the governor, may enter into an agreement with another
31 state to regulate, distribute, and administer the water from an interstate surface water source
32 that is not otherwise subject to an interstate compact.
33 (2) The state engineer may coordinate with another state to implement:
34 (a) the terms of an agreement entered into according to Subsection (1); and
35 (b) an interstate compact that regulates, distributes, or administers an interstate surface
36 water source.
