             7      LONG TITLE
             8      General Description:
             9          This bill provides that the state pay members of the National Guard on the same level as
             10      their federal counterparts.
             11      Highlighted Provisions:
             12          This bill:
             13          .    requires that the state provide for members of the National Guard who are called
             14      into service on behalf of the state:
             15              .    pay at the same rate as federal servicemembers of the same rank and years of
             16      service; and
             17              .    medical, dental, disability, and death benefits at the same rate as full-time state
             18      employees.
             19      Monies Appropriated in this Bill:

             25          39-1-51, as last amended by Laws of Utah 1963, Chapter 61

             27      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:


             28          Section 1. Section 39-1-51 is amended to read:
             29           39-1-51. Pay of National Guard members.
             30          (1) When called into the service of the state and not in the service of the United States,
             31      the members of the National Guard shall receive, without a waiting period:
             32          (a) the same pay and allowance as members of the regular army or regular air force of
             33      like rank and length of service[. In addition to the above pay, officers and enlisted personnel
             34      shall receive];
             35          (b) medical, dental, disability, and death benefits equal to those received by full-time,
             36      permanent state employees; and
             37          (c) one ration per day[; provided, that this].
             38          (2) The state shall make no payments to members of the National Guard [in the case
             39      of] for service for which the United States government makes payment.
