MOTION: Sen. Davis moved to approve the minutes of the February 13, 2008 meeting.
The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Eastman, Hickman, Niederhauser, and Walker absent for the vote.
1. S.B. 83 Check Cashing and Deferred Deposit Lending Registration Act (K. Mayne)
Sen. Mayne introduced the bill.
Edward Leary, Commissioner, Department of Financial Institutions, and Cort Walker, Utah Consumer Lending Association, spoke in support of the bill.
Laura Polacheck, Associate State Director, AARP Utah, and Christopher Peterson, law professor, University of Utah, spoke to the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Davis moved to pass the bill out favorably.
The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Hickman and Walker absent for the vote.
2. S.B. 200 Professional Engineers Licensing Amendments (F. Fife)
Sen. Fife discussed the bill and possible amendments.
MOTION: Sen. Hickman moved to go to the next item on the agenda.

3. S.B. 216 Deferred Deposit Lending Information and Reporting (G. Bell)
Sen. Bell introduced the bill.
